Axis Communication continues to grow, and we are now looking for a software developer with experience of Rust and C. We are an agile team of developers with broad and mixed experiences working on the configuration software for our speakers. Does this sound like something for you? Apply today!

Who is your future team?

We are great team of friendly developers with both long and shorter experience. Our days rely on agile principles, teamwork, continuous improvements, and shared responsibility.

As your manager I believe that trust and collaboration are the cornerstones of a good team. You hold the expertise; my job is to pave the way for the team to excel.

What you’ll do here as a software developer?

You will join the Axis Audio Manager Edge team working on the backend for configuration, services and cross-device communication in all our speaker products. You will play an important role in delivering new and innovative features and products.

Our code is written in C and Rust, but we also use other languages such as Python for test. Most of the code reside in Linux user space and we rely on HTTP based APIs, MQTT, async code, and many other technologies. If you happen to know any of these that’s a great start. We strive to use an open platform and open standards which fits well with Axis company core value Always Open.

Most of your days will include one or more of the following:

  • Digging into new features together and designing a great solution.
  • Working closely with the rest of your team, helping, and sharing knowledge between you.
  • Daily stand-ups to share what you know, ask for help, and grow together with your team.
  • Coding and reviewing C/Rust/Python of course.
  • And every other Friday can be spent on learning something new or your own pet project and innovative ideas.

Who are we looking for?

We want to find someone who has worked with software development for a few years and is ready for a new challenge. As Rust is a fairly new language we don’t expect you to have your whole career there (we won’t complain if you do!), but we want you to have previous professional experience of it.

We hope you are curious, interested in technical challenges and solving them in a team-focused environment. We are looking for someone who has an interest in understanding both the big picture as well as the details of your deliveries. You are comfortable with taking initiative and take responsibility for, and pride in, your accomplishments. We hope that you are open to learning, but also willing to share your knowledge and ideas with us.

Who are you?

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree with focus on software engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • You are technically curious and comfortable with development in Rust and C.
